Who are
iKnitiative’s designers and teachers?

Natalie Wilson is iKnitiative's principal
creative force. Natalie is a knitwear designer and
knitting teacher based in the Detroit, Michigan
area.
Natalie taught herself to knit
during the bunge jumping craze, figuring there must
be something more productive to do with stretchy
string!
Knitting was also a nice
portable craft that fit within the business trips
she was taking as a consulting environmental
scientist. She began publishing and selling
iKnitiative patterns after her designs were
favorably received at the Detroit Knit-Out in
September 2003. In addition to designing for her
iKnitiative pattern line, which is now sold through
more than 200 yarn shops in North America, Natalie
designs for knitting magazines and yarn companies
and has contributed to several books. Natalie lives
with a very patient and supportive husband, their
two delightful young children, and a hot-tempered
cat.
Natalie's knits fit her busy
lifestyle. She designs and makes items that fit her
goal of wearing or using at least one handknit item
every day. Simple shapes, subtle details with style
impact, and creative mixing of yarns are signature
elements of her designs. Her collection for
iKnitiative concentrates on casual items for women,
but also includes some niceties for men, children,
and the home.
Christie Furber
is a guest
designer for iKnitiative. An avid knitter for more
than a decade and a knitting instructor in the Twin
Cities area, Christie's energetic and colorful work
shows the influence of her own studies with Kaffe
Fassett, Brandon Mably, and Valentina Divine.
Christie now divides her time between Minnesota and
Arizona. She lives with a very patient husband and a
well-travelled yarn stash.
Jill Gutman Schoenfuss
is iKnitiative's newest guest designer. Jill
founded "A Stitch In Time", a vocational training
program for disadvantaged & troubled teenagers, who
learn job skills by running an internet yarn shop (http://www.astitchintime.bizhosting.com),
learning to knit, and making knitted items for
retail sale. Jill designs for knitting publications
and yarn manufacturers, and creates easy patterns
for "A Stitch In Time" kits. Her designs often
feature intarsia colorwork or interesting yarn
combinations. Jill's grandmother taught her to
knit at the age of 5, and she has been designing and
teaching others to knit for over 20 years. Jill
resides in Connecticut with her husband, two
daughters, and their misunderstood dog.
